The ultimate showdown: Steve Rogers against Bruce Wayne...
A national icon who was once a sickly boy administered the Super Soldier Serum to help the American war effort in WWII, vs a philanthropist billionaire who witnessed the murder of his parents and now dons the mantle of the bat to fight crime.
Each a humble man in their own sense, they both would sacrifice themselves to save the innocent, and they both fight under the pretense of being incorruptible symbols to humanity. Neither are superhuman in the any way and are both mortal. Put in a cage together I would bet neither of the men would willfully kill one another, and at worst the fight would probably just end in a knockout, but here's my rundown anyways.
If we look at the strength side of it, Captain has the advantage he can bench 1000 pounds and run the mile in less than 2 minutes, while Batman is extremely physically fit he is bound by normal human attributes.
On the technique side of the fight Captain is an expert at hand to hand combat and one of the only people of the planet who has mastered the ricochet effect of his Vibranium-Steel Alloy shield. But on the other hand Batman is on the same level of hand to hand combat skill not to mention he is extremely skilled at all of his gadgets and weaponry.
How does it all add up? Well I imagine the fight would back and forth struggle at first, Captain retaining his shield initially to insure he is not left completely defenseless against Batman's Batarangs or other projectiles. Batman would probably make quick use of his surrounding, and opt to use his Bat-Grappling Hook to gain access to more strategic location rather than initiate in close quarters combat with the Cap. Batman would probably use his smoke grenades to hide his movement, try to subdue Captain's legs or body with his Bat-bolas and quickly end the battle with an electric shock or a beating to the back of the head.
Whereas here the battle might be over against a thug or cut purse but when you're dealing with the resilient Captain America I don't think a quick finish is just that feasible, and getting in close to finish the job would be a grave mistake and only put you in range of his lethal Take Downs. Fist to fist Batman would hold his own for sure against the Cap, but I'm not sure how a well a bat can take an shield punch in the face but I'd just guess and say that Batman would have trouble remembering how long he'd been out.
My vote for the winner, a close call but... Steve Rogers aka Captain America
